About

Daniel Simmons exhibited in "Building Structures" at MoMA-PS1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City, New York, and his work has been noted in Mark Magazine and the book "Tomorrow's World".

I create immersive, built environments for both gallery spaces and the outdoors.

These projects suggest contemporary ruins - the relics or remains of fragmented buildings, places that belong to no one and are never closed, possibly sunken into the landscape.

Faintly archetypal roles for visitors past, present and absent are expressed within the interiors - a stage for actors in a ritual; a pathway for a lone journeyer ascending to a meditation space.

The production of sculpture supports this activity.

A pathway leads a visitor from one vantage point to another within a structure, framing his or her
experience of the interior.
